Resources for Transitioning to a Zero-Emission Fleet

California fleets are going zero-emission! California has set the goal that 100 percent of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles in the State will be zero-emission by 2045 for all operations where feasible and by 2035 for drayage trucks.

The following information, tools, and fleet-related service providers are listed as resources for those making the transition to zero-emission fleets. Please note that GO-Biz is unable to endorse any particular resource, and we recommend doing your own assessment of which will be most appropriate for your needs. If you would like to suggest additions or updates to this list, please contact: here.

Fleet Electrification Tools & Guides
ZEV Truckstop: This website maintained by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) includes information about current regulations on medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, links to useful resources at each stage of the fleet electrification process, an events calendar, a mailing list sign-up, and more.

Cal Fleet Advisor: CARB and Calstart have teamed up to launch personalized advising and case management services to help fleet operators plan for electrification, connect with qualified dealers and manufacturers, and navigate incentives like Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP).

Sustainable Fleets: California fleets can sign up to join Sustainable Fleets, which includes a membership to Calstart, access to technical assistance and funding opportunities, and accreditation and recognition for deploying zero-emission technologies. California fleets receive HVIP sponsorship to cover the cost of participation in the Sustainable Fleets Program.

EDF Fleet Electrification Solution Center: This website maintained by the Environmental Defense Fund provides a click-through checklist interface to walk through steps and provide applicable resources at each phase of fleet electrification.

Zero-Emission Technology Inventory (ZETI) Tool: The ZETI tool is an interactive online resource to establish a current knowledge base for commercially available offerings of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. The tool aims to provide fleets and governments with comprehensive information including regions where zero-emission brands are available for purchase, and the timeline over which additional models are expected to become available.

Funding & Incentive Information

ZEV Funding Resources – California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development: This page includes a list of vehicle and infrastructure incentives and financing options, as well as links to incentive and funding search tools.

CARB Truck & Bus Regulation Resources: This page includes regulation information and fact sheets, as well as links to financial assistance resources and truck loan assistance program information.

Advanced Vehicle Technology and Infrastructure Funding Finder Tool: This tool from Calstart is designed to help stakeholders search and filter for Medium-and-Heavy-Duty Alternative Fuel Vehicle and infrastructure programs in the state of California.
