Governor’s Chief Economic and Business Advisor Releases Statement on May Employment Numbers

Sacramento, CA – Following the California Employment Development Department’s (EDD) release of the state’s employment data from May, the Governor’s Chief Economic and Business Advisor and Director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, Lenny Mendonca issued the following statement.

“California employers added 19,400 nonfarm payroll jobs in May while the unemployment rate dipped to 4.2 percent. As we continue this historic expansion, it’s important that we remain fiscally disciplined, which Governor Newsom has made a cornerstone of the state budget, ensuring that we build an economy that works for all Californians.”
