Sacramento, Calif - This week, the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) was recognized by the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC) as the “Partner of the Year.” "Congratulations to GO-Biz on being recognized for their efforts as an economic development partner in the Imperial County," said Assembly Member Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella), who represents Imperial County and serves as the chair of the Assembly Committee on Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy. "Imperial County is an excellent place to start and grow a business. With GO-Biz’s assistance, others around the state and U.S. will have an opportunity to see Imperial’s unique business and investment opportunities.” GO-Biz Senior Business Development Specialist Sid Voorakara accepted the award on behalf of GO-Biz, which works closely with both the IVEDC and Assembly member Garcia’s office to help bolster economic development efforts in the Imperial Valley. In October, GO-Biz director Panorea Avdis and Asm. Garcia led a delegation of state officials to the region and met with small business owners to discuss available state resources, hosted a bi-national lunch with leaders from California and Mexico and toured the Salton Sea to learn more about the region's renewable energy opportunities.
